Abstract

The band-to-band registration errors were recognized in the ADEOS/OCTS level 1B1 images which were generated by the nearest neighbor (NN) method. It is very suspicious whether the results by band-to-band operation like ratioing, NDVI computation, etc. using such images can reflect the actual conditions of the ground. In this paper, the influences of band-to-band registration errors on NDVI were examined utilizing the simulated images from Landsat TM images. Two types of NDVI values were compared. One is derived from the simulated images by the bi-linear (BL) method, the other from that by the NN method. The comparison proved the BL interpolation was more effective than the NN method for mitigating the effect of band-to-band registration errors on NDVI.
