Analyses of shockwaves from bolides on March 2005

Abstract
Shockwave signals from a fall of bolide are very important data for study of meteor physics. Using shockwave data, we can estimate energy release or size during fall and a trajectory of a bolide. Infrasound observation is one of the ways of detecting bolide shockwaves. However, we have no infrasound observational networks extends for large area. We have only a few infrasound arrays that have three or four elements, in the Japanese islands. A dense seismic network is a useful system not only for detecting micro-earthquakes, but also detects shockwaves generated by bolides. In the Japanese islands, we have two excellent seismic networks (J-Array and Hi-net) extends for a length of about 2500 km, which are operated by Japan Meteorological Agency, Universities, and National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention. On March 2005, three bolides appeared over the Japanese islands. On the Chubu bolide (March 1st) and the Kita-Kanto bolide (March 20th), we identified shockwave signals from bolide at many seismic stations. In this presentation, we show the results of shockwave analyses on two bolides.
