Abstract
Background: We have the possibility of making some mistakes because of misunderstanding and/or lack of confirmation when preparing and performing intravenous infusion.
Methods: In this study, we analyzed the cause of these mistakes due to decrease the frequency of mistakes when performing fluid infusion. We made the original practical pocket manual of fluid infusion at our ward. We confirmed the pocket manual repeatly by carrying it.
Results: Although we confirmed some mistakes at fluid infusion, there were no mistakes at blood infusion. A fatal mistake was lost by the confirmation of the manual. However, some tiny mistakes were reported.
Conclusion: It is important to confirm practical pocket manual when performing fluid infusion. We need performing fluid infusion carefully as enough as blood transfusion and should be conscious of the importance of the fluid infusion mistake.
