Abstract
We studied the hemodynamic change of portal vein and abdominal artery in 66 patients with liver cirrhosis (LC) [29 with esophageal varix |V(+)| and 33 without esophageal varix |V(-)|] and 41 healthy adults (NC) using by pulsed dopplex sonography.
Portal vein was measured main portal trunk (MPV) and splenic vein (SV). abdominal artery was measured celiac artery (CE). splenic artery (SA) and suprrior mesenteric artery (SMA).
The results were as follows:
1: Blood flow volume of the SV. CE. SA and SMA was more increased in LC than in NC.
2: Comparison between with or without esophageal varix. flow volume of SV. CE and SA was more increased in V(+) than in V(-).
Flow volume of SMA was more increased in V(-) than in V(+).
3: Hypertension of splenic circulation in LC was associated with esophageal varix.
4: It was thought that patient with LC has different circulation of abdominal artery with or without esophageal varix.
