Abstract

Our past studies have revealed only the structural performance of the buckling-restrained brace (BRBSM) members. It is necessary to study BRBSMs in a structure.

In this paper, a model of a mid-rise steel structure with BRBSMs is analyzed. Evaluated are cumulative plastic strain energy ratios and cumulative fatigue values of BRBSMs. As a result, cumulative plastic strain energy ratios and cumulative fatigue values exceed required values to BRBSMs under a severe earthquake. BRBSM of developed high-performance type is applicable against so many repeated loadings of low strain amplitude.
