Abstract

Carbon fiber sheets are used to reinforce steel bridges. However, there are cases in which the reinforcement is ineffective due to obstructions in the area. The authors proposed the reinforcement method with CFRP molded plates that can reinforce the obstructed area. In this study, T-section column specimens, assuming the flange and web of a steel I-girder, were reinforced using this method. Tensile and compression tests were conducted. FEM analysis was performed, and the results were compared with experiments to analyze the stress state of the reinforced sections. As a result, it was confirmed that the load-carrying capacity was improved with this method. The stress state of the reinforcement was reproduced by FEM analysis.
