Abstract

This study aims to propose a new analytical method which called “Nut Fastening Simulation Analysis of High Strength Bolts” by modeling thread into helical shape, rotating nut by enforced displacement and clamping the object using a bearing surface of bolt and nut in terms of generating bolt axial force. The actual bolt tightening test data are used to improve the accuracy of the analytical conditions. In addition, comparing the analysis with the conventional preload analysis helps to reveal differences in both the stress of a tightening bolt and the analytical method. The new analysis allows evaluation the relation between tightening torque, nut rotating angle, and bolt axial force, thus in the future, it is expected to contribute to clarify the stress properties of bolt and control of construction work.
