Abstract
Meissen, Wedgwood, Sevres and Royal Copenhagen that are well-known pottery and chinaware factories in Europe. This paper considers the development and characteristic of their products by taking a general look at activities since the establishment of each factories. These factories have won a reputation all over the world for high quality and have held an established position for a long time. It is for the reason that the original marketing and the technical development are relevant. Especially, the jury system maintaining high quality is attention point. Today, we must learn market development from them in order to improve the sluggish conditions prevalent in Japanese traditional craft industries.
