Abstract
The purpose of this research is the considerasion of "another universal design" through practice of tool and environment design for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) patient. The design of the ALS patient's self saliva suction device was done concretely. Through this case, the development of only one little tool improved patient's life environment, and that it was connected with the improvement of QOL (quality of life) aiming at the independence of patient's life and minder or ones family were found out. Furthermore, the paradigm of this new universal design is searched which is not from the mechanism of mass market production but from the point of view of what to design which depends on the variety of handicap.
