Abstract
A street amenity design method is proposed, based on a study of the relationship between streetscape elements and images. The results of a quantitative survey of the elements and a survey of public consciousness of the images were reported. They revealed that improvement of such elements contributed to the upgrading of streetscape images. The sequential elements also brought about improvement of entire streetscape images by harmonizing such elements with each other, demonstrating a close relationship between the elements and the images. The proposed study focuses on two issues for studying the existence of streetscape elements : molding elements including color; and streetscape images including the sequence.
