Abstract
For glasping how do material constraints affect designer's creativity, three expriments were held. In those experiments, subjects (students) were divided into four groups and assigned different combinations of project and material constraints for each group in the experiments. As the results, we saw that, in some case, material constraints apparently facilitate subjects' creativity while in the other case conversely it suppressed subjects' creativity. The author concluded that if we grasp the right relations of constraints and design objectives, we could facilitate design creativity by giving proper constraints.
