Abstract
This research aims to report about the Jian-nain ornament at temples in Taiwan based on the literatural survey and interviews with artisans. Jian-nain is the roof ornament which use the cut porcelain pieces as the material of mosaic tile for concrete based object. As "Jian" means cut, and "Nain" means put. While it uses the broken porcelain bowls, it is unique for its mind of recycle. But nowadays, this recycle mind is almost disappear because special parts comes to be produced after 1970's. Author suggested the importance of recognition for the recycle mind and traditional thoughts came from Confucianism which has been continuously transmitted from ancient times.
