Abstract
Owing to better circumstances for making new Japanese fonts through the computer, the number of Japanese fonts has increased, and also the number of categories into which Japanese fonts are classified has increased. But we have no methods of choosing suitable one according to imagery of them. So we have the research on the image of the shape of Japanese fonts. It is necessary to use suitable fonts for the design works. The results of this research show that the images of Japanese fonts can be classified. We will be able to add some image keywords (or something) on a catalogue that can be used for choosing Japanese fonts, in the future. Additionally, the functional parts of fonts are noticed.
