Since preserving the Korean folk dance and transmitting it to the future generationis the very important matter in terms of protecting intangible cultural properties, the attempt was made to recreate 'Poongmool', the Korean folk dance, taking advantage of 3-D computer graphics. Movements of the dance with the percussion instrument and the characteristic movements of the ribbon attached to the hat were digitized, recorded, replayed and recreated using human modeling or motion capturing by 3-D computer graphics. The objective of this study is to request a new method for preserving the intangible cultural properties, folk dance.
