Abstract
The diesel car, the gasoline car and the electric train were produced in large quantities for a short period in Italy, during the 1930's. These trains, as a new type of train, run all over Italy and shared common features, like the similar character of design, the streamline of the front, the flat surface of the body, the friendly one-room, the interior without decoration, etc. As a direct result of the rational structure of the light body, the common style of these trains derived from its functional and simple form, beyond the differences of power source and manufacture. Such a minimal design is similar to the design of modern railway stations of Italian national railway built during the 1930's, characterized by its functional and minimal style.
