Abstract

Abstract:Against the backdrop of globalization,it is getting more important for designers to be aware of the cultural identities of their countries or regions. Since 2004,the Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry of Japan has led efforts such as the Japanesque Modern [Shinnihon-yoshiki],which calls attention to products, contents and services that utilize Japanese traditional craftsmanship, mentality and technology to match modern lifestyle and needs of consumers, not only passing on historical heritages. Through educational programs based on this concept,we realized that the hybridization of traditional heritage and contemporary visual culture using characters can sometimes give their works familiarity and attraction to viewers.
