Creation of Bicycle Design with Observations of Bicycle User's Activities, Supposing Sequences of Use and Situations

Abstract

The promotion of utilization of bicycles is a strategy for the construction of the low carbon society and the improvement of our health. A functional design of bicycles for the above aim was investigated in this study. First of all, observations of using bicycles were done, research reports in the past were reviewed. User’s hierarchical value was supposed by these. Hierarchical concepts were constructed, the sequence and the situation of use based on the concepts were assumed, described on ProST, and the requirements were derived. Bicycles were designed in this generic system design process.
