Abstract
This paper describes the characteristics of design methods necessary for expediting collaborative design by classifying existing methods mainly based on design thinking. Design thinking is a framework which constitutes “design problem analysis”, “idea generation”, and “idea evaluation”. As a result, we classify 174 design methods into 13 categories. Along this classification, it is revealed that the expansion and proposition of design methods deemed appropriate to use in basic design are necessary for collaborative design.
