Typology study using MDS on the characteristics of railway and trackside space for urban development

Abstract

The purpose of this study, is to typify the relationship between Japanese railway and the city for urban development using MDS. Activities using trains for the urban development is utilized very often recently. However,railway tracksides have not been utilized effectively, and some of them are often used as illegal parking place or crime outbreak. As a result of this survey, we divided the railways into four types, revealed the tendency of each trackside space, and clarified two important axes and factors about the relations with the town.
