Abstract
Many of Japan’s local governments over the next 25 years, are said to be disappeared by a reduction in the population. Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture is no exception. A prediction like this, I have implemented a training program to develop the community-oriented design mind in the Department of KANSEI design at Hachinohe Institute of Technology. As a part of this program, I carry out the design practice “Redesigning of YAWATA-UMA which is a local toy of Hachinohe” to acknowledge of the regional design resources. In this paper, I consider the education approach that leads to the community-oriented design mind.
