Host: Japanese Society for the Science of Design
The Creative Cities Network of seven creative industries (music, literature, craft and folk art, cinema, gastronomy, media art and design) established by UNESCO now includes 246 cities worldwide. The Creative Cities of Design, the UNESCO Design Cities, currently have 39 member cities and are spread not only in industrialized countries but also in various types of countries. This study examines the significance and possibilities of these design cities in the future of design.
