This study examines views of the future in speculative design based on the taxonomy of futures, which has been discussed in theoretical futures studies. Speculative design is an enterprise that explores future possibilities that cannot be anticipated by data. Speculative design dares to propose ethically ambivalent ideas to encourage public discussion of critical future problems. What speculative design seeks is neither a predictive nor normative future. The taxonomy of futures could help verify the significance of speculative future concepts in the contemporary world.
