Action and Cognition of Smartphone Icons for the Senior

Abstract

In the last ten years, the smartphone has become an indispensable part of our life, as our lifestyle is also experiencing a huge change. Because of the aging of the population, the senior will be an important group of smartphone users. However, older people are usually expected to have the same ability as the youngers to use smartphones with too many applications, which are obviously not based on the practical needs of the senior. In order to solve this problem, our survey was conducted among the senior on the intelligibility of provided icons, by examining whether the icons are easy to be recognized.
