In recent years, public design has been required to disclose its design rationale. This study describes the process and results of the study in creating the logotype for the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW), and presents the rationale for the design. It also modeled the process of forming the rationale through reflection. As a result, the process of design rationale was clarified by identifying and comparing the design variables and putting the work in an order that is easy to explain, while giving precedence to shaping.
