Design Practice with People of Fishery and Suggestions for "Design as Good Work"

Abstract

Marine IT is an approach for sustainable coastal fisheries using IT.The author has been involved in the development of various "Marine IT" systems as an information designer. There are several cases that contained suggestions for what the author considers "design as good work".As an example, this paper describes the design of a system developed with people of fishery in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture, who operate a tuna longline fishery as partners. Then looks back on the design process and the suggestions for "design as good work" that were gained from the design process.
