Establishment of the Western furniture industry from the Taisho to the early Showa era in Kyoto City

Abstract

In this essay, I considered the expansion of the Western furniture industry in Kyoto, based on the names of Western furniture companies listed in the commercial and industrial directory. As a result, the following three became clear. (1) A furniture company in Kyoto started from a woodworking shop along the Takase River. (2) The furniture industry expanded due to the three major projects of Kyoto City. (3) From the "Daiten Memorial Expo Report", it was found that Western furniture was a field that played a part in Kyoto's industry.
