Considerations and suggestions regarding design objectives

Abstract

In design studies, there has been much advocacy for the "expansion of the field of design. At the same time, the introduction of design has been gaining momentum under the keyword "design thinking. In the design field, the field is truly booming. On the other hand, there are also criticisms of design thinking occasionally. Most of their arguments are alarm bells against the "devotion to methodologies" such as methods and tools. In light of this situation, this paper attempts to provide a new perspective to resolve these fears by examining and proposing a reinforcing theory from the perspective of the "Objectivism of Design. As a result, we found that various design theories can be easily understood by considering the purpose of design as "creating a phenomenon" and the design act as "designing a means" to this phenomenon.
