Abstract

Creativity is considered essential in the creation of innovation. We focus on how model selection affects the positive emotion of aesthetic experience, "aesthetic interest," which is related to the ability to form hypotheses through abduction. We hypothesize that the more complex the cognitive model before the switch, the simpler the model after the switch, the greater the aesthetic interest experienced based on disfluency reduction. We conducted an experiment to test this hypothesis using animations of link movements. Results shows trends that aesthetic interest is positively correlated with model simplicity.
