Development of Furniture with Reduced Overturn Risk by Using Side Panels Parts Combining Compressed Elastic Sugi and Hardwood

Abstract

The aim of previous research was to improve the strength and storage capacity of furniture parts using compressed elastic sugi. In this study, we combined compressed elastic sugi and hardwood to improve the strength of plate-shaped parts, and used them for making the side panels of storage furniture. As a result, the storage capacity was improved. In addition, overturn risk was of storage furniture was reduced by using hardwood on its lower level, and plate-shaped parts combining compressed elastic sugi and hardwood on its upper level.
