Abstract

This study developed an app for Deaf children with residual hearing to learn through animal sounds at the zoo. The app development was two goals. The first is to promote acceptance of their own hearing and the second is to create an opportunity to develop an interest in sound. As a result of having use the app at the zoo by deaf children and their families, all children rated it as fun, wanted to learn more about animals, and wanted to watch more different sounds. We were able to provide an opportunity to develop an interest in animals and sounds. However, issues remained regarding the acceptance of their own hearing.
