Abstract

This paper shows an attempt to incorporate Design education methods into General University curriculum, and from the attempt we discover "the origins and meanings of Design education." The plan is to combine the learning of knowing, which is the core of today's University education, with the learning of doing (expressing and creating) cultivated in Art and Design schools. The attempt means to create an education where knowing and doing are connected. The education performs "to do what you know'' and "you know by doing.'' This is because we believe that what our society needs now is not only the education of knowledge, but also the education for development the ability to shape one's own life and society based on learning the ability to "doing.''
