Holding a science event to draw pictures using artificial opals

Abstract

This study reports on drawing pictures with structural colors using artificial opals. We identified three issues in drawing on a black plate with a brush and then devised several ideas to hold a science event, certainly “the only one” in the world, for elementary school students. We hope that this initiative will lead to the spread of the artificial opal instead of traditional pigments, and the development of innovative talents in science, arts and design.
