Abstract

"Biwako no Niwa" is an initiative that reimagines Lake Biwa and its surrounding areas as a "garden," where workshops are held using driftwood and other objects found along the lakeshore. This endeavor goes beyond mere artistic creation; it aims to serve as a space for reexamining the lake’s natural environment, the lives of people by the water, and the region’s history and culture.In these workshops, participants collect and arrange drifted materials within the loosely defined boundaries of the "garden."
