Abstract

Elizabeth Tomalin (1912–2012) studied at the Reimann Schule in Berlin before fleeing Nazi Germany in 1936. In London, during the war she worked with architect Ernő Goldfinger and designer Abram Games. After the war, she became a textile designer for Marks & Spencer and color adviser for Heal’s. Later, she pursued art therapy, incorporating design into psychological healing, training academically in the U.S., and pioneering art therapy in Europe. Arguably, her design education at the Reimann Schule, emphasizing color psychology, influenced her therapeutic approach, shaping a resilience-based design therapy practice.
