Abstract

This study examines the transformation of books in the digital era and explores future forms of experiential books based on historical developments. As reading shifts toward screen-based interactions, the tactile and bodily experience of printed books is diminishing. By analyzing artist books and related practices, this research redefines books as experiential media integrating materiality, perception, and bodily engagement. Through prototyping and user observation, it proposes new book forms that evoke “small happiness” in everyday life and expand reading beyond mere information consumption.
