Abstract
The working group was organized between Kumamoto Industrial Research Institute and Tsuchiya Rubber Co.,Ltd., In Tsuchiya Rubber Co..Ltd., elastic pavement materials made of rubber tips are produced and sold. We have gotten to consider concerning the improvement of universality of pavement materials for pedestrian roads. We supposed that comfortability and safety for pedestrian roads characterized as walkablity and safety at falling down. Then, several values for physical property were measured with relating to a feeling of walk and so on. Resulting consequence, we could characterize typical pavement materials. The outlines are as follows; 1) Rubber tips pavement materials possess excellent cushioning, water permeability and impact attenuation, however, they possess poor cursoriality for wheelchairs. 2) In contrast, although asphalt materials and concrete blocks are non-slippy and smooth to drive wheelchairs, they do not possess good cushioning and impact attenuation. 3) Bricks and tiles materials indicate lower property for cushioning and impact attenuation. In addition, it becomes slippy materials in the rain.
