Abstract
Most of old paper stencils left in Japan are scattered and getting lost as the dyeing factories are going out of business. Many people did paper surveys, collected the paper stencils to protect them and tried organizing them for preservation. However, those paper stencils became easily damaged and thus making it harder for some people to reuse them. On the other hand, a preceding study publicized a method of mechanizing the production of paper stencils by scanning them in a computer to preserve and repair any damaged parts at the paper patterns. In this study, we focused on fixing the paper stencils physically. Regardless of the cutting edge orientation, our study proposed a method that can produce a free design. We use the material of paper stencils to be produced with a laser cutter.<br>In addition, we improved precision for the reproduction of paper stencils and we practically dyed the cloth with them. As the result, it became clearer that even an aspect of the processing material could reproduce very small patterns by adopting the synthetic paper stencils.
