Abstract

This paper describes the changes of impression of bamboo by focusing on the structure of bamboo which is dyed partly with different colors in main components of bamboo i.e. sheath, vascular bundles and soft cells. as well as relations between dyed part, color and impression. Firstly, red, blue and green colors of dye were used for dyeing in each bamboo component to create samples. Furthermore, impression evaluation was conducted, and analyzed using factor analysis. As a results, the impression factor of "activity, evaluation" can be changed greatly depending on dyed component on bamboo with different colors. Finally, according to the result of multiple regression analysis, "Activity" factor was affected by brightness of sheath and soft cells, and a change in hue of soft cells. "Evaluation" factor was affected by a change in hue of vascular bundles and sheath.
