This study explores methods to sustain engagement in small community settings by examining ongoing participation motivators. I organized and facilitated a small dialogical space utilized informal communication. Oral data from eight participants who regularly attended after their initial involvement and three who did not return were analyzed from start to finish.
Findings revealed that many returning participants engaged in casual conversations often involving negative elements like complaints or personal issues. Consequently, it was suggested that individuals rejoining these gatherings after their initial participation might engage in 'self-disclosure' during conversations, even before establishing a fully developed relationship with the author or other attendees.
