Abstract
The present paper has shown the elastic buckling of a single layer latticed cylindrical roof under snow loading using a fully nonlinear finite element solution procedure and simple reduced stiffness analyses. The rigidly-jointed latticed roof consists of 212 straight members. Two types of boundary support system and four types of snow loading system have been adopted. The distributions of displacements and internal axial forces change due to the boundary conditions and the loading ones. It has been observed that nonlinear numerical experiments are very sensitive to geometric imperfections. A correlation between the scattered nonlinear buckling responses and the reduced stiffness lower bound load spectra, has been discussed.
