Abstract
In snowy and cold regions such as Hokkaido, snowdrift or poor visibility was caused by drifting snow. As prevention against them, several kinds of snow fence have been founded alongside of road or railway, and or around houses. Some investigations about snowdrift around snow fence ware carried out by field experiments or wind tunnel experiments, and the basic property of the snowdrift has been clarified. Snowfall and wind which cause snowdrift always change in the nature, and the snowdrift property in the identical fence changes every winter. It is important to observe the property of the wind which caused snowdrift in detail, when the formation process of the snowdrift is grasped. However, the study of observing the wind and snowdrift simultaneously is a little. In this study, for the purpose of clarifying the relation between property of the wind and property of the snowdrift, snowdrift distribution around a collector fence and property of the wind were observed throughout four winters. As the result, the change of snowdrift distribution by the wind condition was clarified.
