Abstract
Although it has been becoming a popular to enjoy taking a bath as leisure activity in the past few years, we guessed that ostomates give up going out for bath after their operations. To find out the actual situations in which ostomates use public bathing facilities, we carried out a surrey question naive on 130 ostomates.
According to the result,64 respondents(74%)experienced public bathing.Their comments were generally positive after their experienced. The major reasons were their shyness or they were not used to go out to take a bath since before their operations.Only a few respondents gave up because of complications, problems in their methodologies or misunderstandings about their situations.
We think it is essential to provide ostomatas with information about public bathing,to educate them in the proper way to self-care,and including appropriate nursing for the care of complications.
