Abstract
In this paper, I have given an overview of what competency-based education is, what kind of theory of academic ability is based on, and what kind of curriculum and instructional methods are required. As a result, in all aspects, the key concepts are transfer of learning and discipline-based epistemological approaches. Precisely because it is an education that seeks generic competencies, it became clear that each subject becomes even more important. Finally, as expectations for future subject content research, I stated the need to organize subject content based on discipline-based epistemological approaches and to develop authentic learning and explicit instruction based on the characteristics of each subject.
