Abstract
We propose a method to measure the efficiency of the information flow in a software development organization. We use a stochastic petri-net model to formalize the information flow in an organization and use the steady state analysis of a stochastic petri-net to measure the efficiency of the flow. We show that two empirical organizational patterns are validated by using our method. We also propose a method to improve the efficiency of the information flow in an organization.
