Previous systems project images onto tables to guide users about physical objects, typically using arrows and symbols for instructions. By displaying small humanoid characters instead, user engagement and enjoyment increases. However, 2D projections limited directional accuracy. This research improved accuracy by using three-dimensional aerial character projections. Experiments with projected line segments showed significantly improved recognition accuracy and established the upper performance limit of 3D projection guidance. Results suggest that 3D aerial images are particularly advantageous in environments with multiple physical objects requiring instruction or reference.
