Severe outbreaks of tomato bacterial spot occurred in a period of high temperature and high humidity in Paraguay. Cultivation under a plastic rain shelter was the most effective for controlling the disease. The yield under the shelter was doubled as compared to non-treated plot. Mulching by plastic film alone did not reduce the disease sufficiently. Fruits of good quality were obtained in the plot of grass mulching, or of that combined with deep ploughing, though no significant yield increase was noticeable.
