Consider vehicles visiting stores that are positioned at far-right corners. These vehicles have to make a right turn whichever route they choose to enter the store, namely, going straight at the intersection and then turn right, or turning right at the intersection and then turning left. Thus, this may have a great impact on the surrounding traffic, although the detail has not been clarified. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors affecting these entering route choices. First, we conducted field observations at the intersection in Kanazawa City. Then, as a basic analysis, the effects of the number of vehicles going straight, turning right and following, the number of vehicles in the opposite lane, and the signal phase on route choice were examined. Furthermore, we estimated a route choice model using these variables. The results showed that both the number of vehicles turning right and going straight had a significant impact on route choice. Also, it was suggested that heterogeneity among drivers needs to be considered.
