Abstract

This study focused on the central-lane bus system in Nagoya City, where the road structure near the intersection is often complicated and the risk of accidents may increase. Through the statistical analysis of accident data, the causes of traffic accidents near intersections on the key route bus lane were clarified. In addition, the potential risk of passing vehicles was evaluated from the behavior analysis based on the field survey. As a result, it was shown that there are many jaywalking pedestrians near/at small intersections around 8 o'clock. Next, it was revealed that many dangerous lane changes near stop lines at upstream intersection occur during peak hours between continuous intersections with different lane operations. Furthermore, at a large-scale intersection, risky situations where high decelerations at intersection occur were confirmed despite the high speed of the traveling vehicle in the key route bus lane. In addition, it was clarified that the risk of rear-end collisions at the right turn lane may increase due to the installation of the bus lane.
