Abstract

This paper clarifies how forms the Personal Space of a resting person in a street space to a pedestrian. The experiments show that the Personal Space formed by a resting person tends to be different from the Personal Space investigated in previous research. Therefore, we defined it as "Dynamic Personal Space" as the Personal Space formed by a person resting in a sitting position concerning a pedestrian and analyzed the characteristics of this Personal Space in this paper. It was found that the formation of the resting person's Personal Space to pedestrians was related to the environment of the street space, such as "Location", "Posture", and " Body orientation". In addition, we were able to confirm the characteristic that the range of the resting person's Personal Space changes as these environmental conditions. In the future, we would like to investigation in the actual street space and we can identify the position where the boundary of a Dynamic Personal Space becomes zero, and we would like to conduct the experiment without bias in the gender of the subjects to clarify the characteristics of the individual distance for each attribute.
