We examined amyloid β and tau depositions using PET in two patients with early onset cerebral amyloid angiopathy causing lobar intracerebral hemorrhage considered to be associated with childhood neurosurgery. The first patient was a man in his 40s. At the age of 9 years, he underwent an emergency left frontoparietal craniotomy using a cadaveric dural graft for acute subdural hematoma by a traffic accident. About thirty-five years after the surgery, he experienced a convulsion caused by lobar intracerebral hemorrhage during childhood neurosurgery. Amyloid PET showed slight uptake in the bilateral cerebral cortices, and tau PET showed negative uptake. The second patient was a man in his 40s. At the age of 5 months, he underwent a left frontal craniotomy. About thirty-eight years after the surgery, he experienced right hemiparesis and speech disturbance caused by a large lobar intracerebral hemorrhage underneath the childhood neurosurgery. Amyloid PET showed strong uptake in the bilateral cerebral cortices, and tau PET showed slight uptake in the bilateral medical temporal cortices.
